Common questions
My reminder didn't fire on time.
Open Android Settings → Apps → Tap2Remind and check that all of these are enabled:
- Notifications — on.
- Alarms & reminders (under Permissions or Special app access) — on. This is required for exact scheduling on Android 12 and newer.
- Battery — set to Unrestricted. Some manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus) aggressively kill background apps and will silently drop scheduled alarms otherwise.
- Display over other apps — on, so the full-screen alarm can appear over the lock screen.
Location reminders aren't triggering when I arrive.
Open Settings → Apps → Tap2Remind → Permissions → Location and set it to Allow all the time. Geofencing requires background location access; While using the app is not enough.
How do I move my reminders to a new phone?
Two options:
- Cloud sync. Sign in with Google on the old phone (Settings → Sign in), then sign in with the same account on the new phone. Reminders restore automatically.
- File export. Settings → Export reminders saves a backup file. Copy it to the new phone (USB, email, Google Drive, etc.) and use Settings → Import reminders.
Why does the app ask for the microphone?
To capture your voice when you tap the big voice button. The audio is processed by Android’s on-device speech recognizer and converted to text. The audio recording is never saved and never leaves your phone.
Does Tap2Remind have ads or charge a subscription?
No to both. Tap2Remind is free, has no ads, and will not be putting features behind a paywall.
Can I use Tap2Remind without a Google account?
Yes. Sign-in is optional and exists only to enable cloud sync. Every other feature works fully without it.
